Teaching & Mentoring

Equity-Driven Teaching and Mentorship

My teaching philosophy is centered on equity-minded pedagogy, prioritizing inclusive learning environments, equitable student engagement, and fostering curiosity in research. I design courses that decolonize traditional educational practices, integrating diverse voices and perspectives often excluded from mainstream academia. By utilizing multimedia resources, alternative materials, and interactive discussions, I encourage students to critically examine systemic inequities and relate abstract concepts to their lived experiences.

I foster inclusive engagement through innovative, growth-based assessments and collaborative projects. For instance, students create infographics and participate in creative exercises like designing legal systems, encouraging critical thinking and visual storytelling. I emphasize the connection between psychology and real-world applications, using pop culture and accessible resources to make learning relatable.

Mentoring plays a pivotal role in my approach. I guide students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, in developing research skills and confidence through structured support and inclusive practices. These efforts aim to dismantle power hierarchies and empower students with knowledge as a tool for transformation and opportunity.
